introducing the 2024 Vancouver Football Club open trial
Open Trials offer a chance for ambitious players to showcase themselves and be evaluated by Vancouver FC First Team Technical Staff for potential professional opportunities.
VFC signed 6 players who attended the 2023 Open Trial.
30+ players were also given the chance to join training groups for additional weeks under the direct attention and instruction from our First Team staff. That is the unprecedented access, real proximity, and opportunity that we as a club are committed to being sure we provide for the football community.

The Open Trials for 2024 are scheduled for March 18th - 21st.
Participants will be organized into;
Group 1: March 18 & 19 (Monday & Tuesday) 1-4pm
Registrants will receive group assignment details via email closer to the event date. You will be notified of your grouping up to 1 week in advance of the trials. (March 11).
Earlier registrants will receive notification of grouping beginning March 1st, and potentially sooner.
No accommodations will be made for requests to attend specific sessions.

The cost to participate in the Open Trials is $300 CDN (+tax). The Trial Fee is non-refundable except in cases where the player is waitlisted or deemed unsuitable for the required level of play before the trials start. This fee covers venue rental, equipment, club and coach staffing, registration and administrative costs, medical and facility staff, insurance, and other essentials.
Registration and full payment are mandatory for acceptance.
Fees are non-refundable.
Available spots are limited.
Participants are responsible for covering all associated costs, including travel, accommodation, visa requirements, and meals.
Waivers are available for those experiencing financial hardship or in need of assistance. Please submit waiver requests to youth@vancouverfc.com by February 26.

Non-Canadian citizens or Permanent Residents are welcome to participate in Vancouver FC open trials. However, international participants must adhere to Canadian immigration laws, including obtaining a non-immigrant visa if required.
We are aware there’s been new changes to the eTA AND VISITOR VISA REQUIREMENTS FOR MEXICAN CITIZENS effective February 29, 2024 .
While Vancouver FC does not coordinate visitor visas, please reach out to youth@vancouverfc.com if the changes impact your travel, or attendance to the 2024 Vancouver FC Open Trials. If you need more information, please refer to the Government of Canada link for necessary information. Due to the travel changes, we have also provided a link to the upcoming changes to the eTA.

Players attending our open trials may receive one or more of the following outcomes:
Contract Offer
Pre-season Training Camp Invite
Additional Training Group/Match Opportunities throughout the CPL Season
No Offer
Regardless of the outcome, players will be entered into our potential player database for future tracking and opportunities.
While the club may approach players or agents during the trial for additional training or first-team opportunities, direct feedback from the club may not be provided to all participants.

Participants at the Open Trials are expected to demonstrate a level of fitness and ability suitable for potential play at the CPL level.
Considerations for previous playing experience include:
Current or recent professional
Current or recent Semi-professional
Top-level local amateur
USport
NCAA
NAIA
Provincial or National Youth National Programs
Top performers at Youth Club and Academy levels
During the event, if club staff determine that a participant poses a threat to themselves or others due to a lack of physical fitness or ability, further discussion may be warranted regarding their participation.

Vancouver FC does not cover any costs incurred by participants, including travel, accommodation, visitor visas, registration fees, or meals.

Players must meet the following criteria:
Male
16 years of age and older by December 31, 2024
Born in 2008 or earlier

This will be the sole open trial before the start of the 2024 CPL Season. However, the club may introduce other opportunities throughout the year.

Registration Deadline: March 11, 2024
Registration will be available for one month or until capacity is reached. If all spots are filled, a waitlist will be created, and interested players can join at no cost.
Walk-ups will not be admitted.

A photo ID (driver’s license, passport, etc.)
Confirmation of registration (screencap of confirmation).

Trials will proceed rain or shine.
Please note that in extreme situations, unforeseen circumstances may arise which cause the cancellation of the event - natural disasters, etc. We apologize for any inconvenience that may be caused by a situation like this. That said, VFC assumes no liability for resulting damages incurred by participants and attendees as a result of cancellations under circumstances of this nature.

Yes, Vancouver FC's training staff and medical personnel will be available onsite.

No, an agent is not required for registration.

Due to limited field space, we do have to limit the number of participants for the trial sessions.
If you are waitlisted, you will complete registration as normal and pay the fee. In the event we are unable to include you in the event, we will fully refund your fees once trials begin.
